COACHES CORNER

Veteran NFL Football Coach

Richard Mann

Coach Mann’s career spans 38 years as Wide Receivers Coach Baltimore Colts, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers.

What a distinguished career.

He has proudly served as a mentor for Coach Ty. He states that his love for the Homeboys camps is the stations that campers are put through to learn the fundamentals of each football position. The games that are played at the camps end, seven on seven, and speed ball, which promotes a competitive nature. The comraderie between the coaches and the campers, and the creation of family atmosphere. The most important observation for me is that those kids get the opportunity to attend a 3 day football camp FREE, nostringsattached. The parents don’t have to come up with enrollment fees and at the end of the 3 days. What a GREAT experience.

David Johnson

Played football with Coach Ty at IUP. Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Coached Junior Football in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.

His quote:
“I personally enjoy the 7 on 7, and Position Drills. The most pleasure is talking to the kids at lunchtime, and giving them health tips, and sharing different lifetime experiences with them.”

Dennis Dirt Winston

Dennis Dirt Winston played Pro Ball for the Pittsburgh Steelers, during their 1978-79 Super Bowl Championship teams. He then played and was named MVP for the 1982 season of the New Orleans Saints. Dirt’s career continued as he coached at Eastern Illinois, and Grambling State. Coach Dirt has been a Homeboys coach for the entire tenure, and looks forward to traveling from Arkansas each summer to Aliquippa,. Penna.

His quote
“I’ve enjoyed 15 years of being affiliated with the Homeboys Football Camp. Its a place where young kids and grownups can have a chance to be around Professional and College Coaches. Also, at the end of camp they have a large array of gifts and trophies that are given away by the Professional (NFL) teams.”
